Frequently Asked Questions
Are trial versions fully functional?
Yes. Every CtrlSoftware plugin trial is a fully functional copy of the product. A serial number simply converts the trial into a full, licensed version — there’s no separate “trial build” with reduced features.
How does licensing work?
Most CtrlSoftware plugins are sold as an annual subscription. Your serial number covers the three latest major CC versions of Adobe InDesign/InCopy, so you don’t need to repurchase when Adobe releases a new version within that window.
Do you offer volume discounts?
Yes. Add a product to your cart and set the quantity — volume discounts apply automatically at checkout: 5% off for 5–9 licenses, and 10% off for 10–24 licenses. Need 25 or more? Request a quote.
Which Adobe apps are supported?
Our plugins are built for Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy on both Mac and Windows. Check each product page for the specific CC versions currently supported.
Is CtrlChanges Light free?
Yes. CtrlChanges Light is completely free and activates automatically the moment you download the trial version — no serial number needed. If you later want to upgrade to CtrlChanges Standard or Pro, you don’t need to download a new plugin: just get a license and enter your serial number to unlock the full version, whenever you’re ready. See the feature comparison table on the CtrlChanges product page for the full breakdown of what each version includes.
What problem does CrossTalk actually solve?
Teams working in InDesign often get stuck copy-pasting text, juggling file versions, and fighting incompatible tools between copy and design. CrossTalk lets you write text directly into the design document, so text corrections and layout stay in sync without manual back-and-forth.
Will my InDesign Paragraph and Character Styles carry over in CrossTalk?
Yes. CrossTalk carries over InDesign’s Paragraph and Character Styles, so text looks correct right away in InCopy’s Layout view.
Can I automate or script CtrlSoftware plugins?
Yes. Several CtrlSoftware plugins expose a scripting API you can drive from ExtendScript (JavaScript), AppleScript or VBScript. CtrlChanges lets you control tracked-changes display and export via script, and CtrlLayers lets you export and import layers programmatically. See the CtrlChanges and CtrlLayers product pages for the full scripting reference and downloadable API documentation.
